Father

Ike Shelton

Ike realized his love for anything with a motor on it when he was only in grade school. His first set of "wheels" was a 1961 BSA Starfire Scrambler at the age of 13. From then on he was hooked. Before long he was at the local drag strip every weekend in his 1963 409 Impala. He was the kid next door swapping his cams while his Pop was at work, unknowing. At the same time, he was also building some pretty cool bikes and cars.

After high school in 1968, Ike received a greetings letter from Uncle Sam so he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves where he was trained as a jet engine tech. Later that year he returned with a new found skills and an eye for fine detail.

Around 1969 Ike started building custom motorcycles in his spare time. It didn't take long for him (and others) to realize he had quite a knack for the custom bike business. By 1970 with encouragement from his family and wife Becca, Ike said farewell to his job to try and make a living out of his hobby. In 1971 in his father's old grocery store location in Richardson, Texas Ike started "Show & Go Cycle." The shop took off, making a profit its first month and would grow for 30 years to come. Doing what he loved while making money doing it was a dream come true.

Welcome, Jason to

Show & Go Cycle

1976 rolled around and Show & Go was booming. It was at this time Ike & Becca welcomed their only son Jason into the world. As Jason grew, cool motorcycles, fast cars, and pretty much anything with a motor on it became second nature. As a matter of fact, Jason got his sense of balance from Ike putting training wheels on a small mini bike (not a bicycle). Ike kept the speeds down by holding on to the bike via ski rope.

Around 1980 Ike was fed up with the local chroming shops losing his parts or returning them with shoddy work. It was time for Show & Go Cycle to expand into the plating biz. Ike's passion for classic autos and bikes drew him to build one of the nation's finest plating shops. His excellent work grabbed the attention of automotive enthusiasts and builders alike.

Hobby Turned Craft

Before long Ike found himself doing the metal finishing on multi-million dollar Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance jaw-droppers, while at the same time providing the same care for the car nut looking for that first place trophy at the local car show. Ike treated all his employees like family and it showed in their collective work over the years. The business grew from a 1 man shop into a 15 man oiled machine over the next 20 years.

Meanwhile, Jason finished high school and decided he needed to see the West Coat and finish his higher education. After graduating from the Advertising Arts College in 1999, Jason moved home for a break from school and joined Ike at Show & Go for some hands-on training in the field he had grown up around his whole life.

California Dreamin'

Ike had been in the retail business for 30 years and in 2001 was starting to get the itch for change. Managing all the employees rather than the hands-on building Ike had enjoyed and tired of 100 degrees 4 month summers, Ike and Jason started talking about relocation and downsizing to where they both loved: California. Show & Go Inc. found a new owner in no time, and it was off to California for the Shelton's.

Under the palm trees, Ike and Jason have no signs of slowing down. Building top of the line, award-winning hot rods, custom bikes, restorations, and plenty of one-off metal fabrication projects.
